We stayed in a wonderful four bedroom cabin and my entire family decided to come too. Everyone was able to come at some point during the week; all of my sisters and their families, my brother and his girlfriend, Beka, my parents and even my mother-in-law and niece came for a night. We got the best of both worlds in one vacation! We had a great time (minus the boat breaking down, x's 2)
This vacation ended up being so much more important to my family than we ever expected. In June, my mom got very sick with bacterial meningitis and came very close to losing her life. Despite all of the Doctor's orders to stay home only weeks after leaving the hospital and days after ending IV antibiotics, my Mom insisted on taking her vacation with all of her family that she had been longing to see during her illness. My Dad, who was an angel through all of my Mom's illness, did apprehensively drive himself and Mom to Minnesota for some relaxation in the wilderness. THANKS, DAD! We were so happy that everyone was able to be together.
